Project Overview

Working together to serve the community

The mission for DUO Week (Do Unto Others) is to cultivate an experience at Oklahoma Christian Academy for the student body to look outside of themselves. We wanted to give students an opportunity to work together through serving the community and shining Christ's light. We believe with getting the community involved we will all be able to grow, better ourselves, and give back to those who are in need.

Recognizing the Issue

Breaking the cycle of child abuse

Our recipient this year is Pepper's Ranch. The mission of Pepper's Ranch Foster Care Community is to "break the cycle" of child abuse and neglect through loving homes, counseling, and growth-oriented activities. By creating a network of caring foster parents and adult mentors on whom children can depend, Pepper's Ranch is committed to providing a safe environment where children's emotional wounds can heal and where they can reach their full potential as contributors to their community. The three Duo Week chairs chose Pepper's Ranch because we felt a deep connection with the community there and the passion from the directors and families there. We believe OCA can make an impact not only at Pepper's Ranch, but in Oklahoma's foster care system.

Results of Our Project

Duo Week raised $50,000 for foster kids in Oklahoma. They gave their money to Peppers Ranch located in Oklahoma City.
